Tremble Clefs Announces Its Annual Family, Friends and Community Event

San Diegans invited to celebrate and raise funds for this local Parkinson’s therapy program

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – July 19, 2022 – The Tremble Clefs, a therapeutic singing program for people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners, announced its annual family, friends and community event will be held on July 30, 2022, from 1-3 pm at the San Rafael Catholic Church Parish Hall in Rancho Bernardo. The event, Together We Sing, will highlight and recognize the therapeutic benefits that the Tremble Clefs provides to the local Parkinson’s community.

“The past two years have been difficult for everyone. The Parkinson’s community was hit especially hard because the pandemic eliminated many opportunities for our singers to have the ability to gather together to perform, collaborate, socialize, and practice. The Tremble Clefs were fortunate to have been able to create workarounds with virtual rehearsals and limited numbers of special outdoor performances to continue some live musical performances. As we move forward, our organization, like many others, relies on      fundraising efforts so we can continue our community outreach programs to the Parkinson’s population. We are excited for all of us to come together as we return to our first in-person event, Tremble Clefs, Together We Sing, recognizing the benefit       Tremble Clefs provides to the local Parkinson’s community,” said Karen Hesley, president of Tremble Clefs San Diego.

This event is free to attend and will feature a live performance with singers from all three locations: Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo and Central San Diego. There will be a silent auction, light refreshments, and an evening of music to be enjoyed by all.

Funds from this annual event are used to help continue this therapeutic and social program, Tremble Clefs which focuses on singing and now a the newly re-incorporated dance program, Tremble Toes. All donations go to support the Tremble Clefs San Diego organization as a whole.

About Parkinson’s Disease
Affecting an estimated one million Americans and 10 million worldwide, Parkinson’s disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s and is the 14th-leading cause of death in the United States. It is associated with a progressive loss of motor control (e.g., shaking or tremor at rest and lack of facial expression), as well as non-motor symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety). There is no cure for Parkinson’s and 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States alone.

About the Tremble Clefs

The Tremble Clefs therapeutic singing program forms its groups with the following primary goals: focus is on utilizing good breathing practice, louder voice volume and wider pitch range; thus addressing some of the most serious voice symptoms found in people with Parkinson's. One typical characteristic is a soft, breathy voice. Other symptoms may include slurring and monotone. People with Parkinson's Disease can suffer from slowness of movement resulting in      reduced activity, which often leads to social isolation.
